Bounty Hunter is a well-known brand and they’ve been making metal detectors for a long time. My first metal detector (and I still use it) was a Bounty Hunter 840 VLF TR. There are a number of them out there (recently saw one on eBay) and I wanted people to know what the Bounty Hunter 840 manual says about its operation.
The Bounty Hunter 840 (and closest model (800)) is a very low frequency (VLF) discriminating metal detector popular in the early ’80s. It uses an inductively balanced transmit and receive (thus the “TR” designation) technique to provide great stability and sensitivity. It has sensitivity, discrimination, and mineralization compensation features.
I’ve seen some people wondering about the detector’s details, but they couldn’t find a manual. I’m providing these images to cover the entire manual. Hope it helps if you’ve come across one of these!

Bounty Hunter is a brand known for producing affordable yet effective metal detectors for hobbyists and beginners. The Bounty Hunter 840 VLF/TR is part of their series, utilizing Very Low Frequency (VLF) and Target Identification (TR) technology for improved accuracy in detecting various types of metals.
